There is a difference between Wells Fargo ADVISORS and WellsTrade. WFA is actually an independent fee based advisory service that is associated w Wells Fargo. WellsTrade is their brokerage platform. You can have money w WFA that you manage yourself through WellsTrade but the advisors still get their cut.

Here's the deal: Every couple months, Wells Fargo sends me three "superchecks." Anything I buy/transfer with these superchecks gets charged to my Wells Fargo Visa and has 0% interest for 12 months, but a 4% transfer fee. My instinct would be to use it to, for example, make a large payment on my car loan. Is this a good idea?

Not a Wells Fargo customer myself, but I imagine their overdraft system works the same. It's likely that your account has the overdraft election turned on, but that doesn't guarantee any individual transaction to be drawn over.
